Imperial Roundup

Not since 2006 has there been a drier Imperial meeting, with clear skies and scorching heat throughout. With temperatures over 30 for much of the week, the challenges facing shooters were different from the last few years. Battling the heat, rather than the rain, was a change to the Bisley we are all accustomed to, and Tony Fresko’s fleet of ice cream trucks were a welcome sight to all.

There was an early casualty to the heat – The ammunition supplied to the NRA was, for whatever reason, regularly blowing primers. Some suffered more than others, but the NRA were quick to respond, bringing out the 60PG batch from 2012 which fared considerably better in the hot weather. With only minor grumblings about the change of batch between the warm-up matches and the start of the grand (causing one or two extra un-converted sighters no doubt) the remainder of the meeting seemed to go without a hitch.
