Jane MesserGC SB SC

Jane has won a number of individual competitions, including the Grand Aggregate at Bloemfontein and the Grand Aggregate and St George’s at Bisley (the Sovereign’s Prize still eludes her: only second to date).

However, Jane prefers team shooting and has been fortunate to have toured widely. She has represented Great Britain in South Africa on five occasions and England once. Arguably, the most successful was the 2017 team but undoubtedly the greatest fun was her first visit in 1993 under Bob Stafford’s captaincy, along with 2023 teammates Jeremy, Tom Rylands and Nigel. One of Bob’s aims was to introduce his young team to Africa and he certainly succeeded in sharing his love for the continent.

Christina Cuming

Christina started shooting at Bradfield College aged 14 and quickly fell in love with the sport. Her first tour was with the UK Cadet Rifle Team to Jersey in 2018 followed by a tour to Canada with the Athelings as well as a tour to Scotland with the GBU19s. Christina shoots for Yorkshire, and earned her England caps in the 2021 and 2022 National Matches. She is now looking forward to travelling to Bloemfontein as part of the GBU25 Team for the 2024 World Championships.

Christina has just graduated with a Psychology degree from Durham University, where she was also Captain of the University Rifle Club. When she is not shooting, she loves to run and hike and more recently took up rowing at university. After university she is taking a year out to shoot and is hoping to do a ski season as a chef, before looking for a job in the City and moving to London. She is hugely grateful for the opportunity to improve her skills on tour with GB this summer.

Henry Awin

Henry started shooting in 2007 at Epsom College under the watchful eye of James Postle, Clare Jeens and also spent many a coaching session in the care of our very own Captain, Andrew Lothian. With a team like that guiding him through, Henry was able to compete for UK cadets and Athelings in 2011 and 2012 respectively. As a GBU25 member Henry toured to South Africa and was the captain to the World Championships in 2019. Henry would love to visit Canada again, if the opportunity arises.

When not shooting, or planning how he can get to Canada, Henry works for his family in the wine industry…importing and selling to anyone who wants to drink it.
